The Chorale celebrates its 40th year!
The Davis Chorale announces the 2017-2018 season and are looking forward to celebrating 40 years of music making in the Davis area. We will begin the season by joining the Camellia Symphony on November 11 for Mozart’s Requiem – the Robert Levin completion of the work – performed in the beautiful Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. We will have 2 short, family friendly holiday concerts featuring the handbell choirs from the Davis Community Church and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis. The concerts are at 4pm on Dec. 16 (Brunelle Hall) and Dec. 17 (Davis Community Church) and will have opportunity for singing along as well as enjoying a variety of holiday music.
Our 40th anniversary year (2018) will begin on May 19, 2018 with a concert with Chamber Orchestra and Carol Kessler, Soprano, featuring John Rutter’s Requiem, Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and John Tavener’s Song for Athene.
Our Holiday concert in December of 2018 will feature Bach’s Magnificat and Britten’s St. Nicolas, with the Davis Children’s Chorale and Chamber Orchestra.
Ambitious concerts to celebrate the special occasion are in store, including the performance of the Requiem by W. A. Mozart, the Requiem by John Rutter, St.Nicolas by Benjamin Britten and the Magnificat by J. S. Bach. The Chorale hopes for much community interest and expects quite a few new singers wanting to join.
Auditions for prospective choir members are ongoing. All interested singers age 18 and above are encouraged to contact Alison Skinner for information and an appointment (530-574-8419 or firstname.lastname@example.org). Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7 – 9:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis and begin on September 11.
